The jig is up, and things are about to get kind of electric around here.

Coming in September, Kia plans to launch its recently-unveiled Soul EV, an all-electric version of its popular Soul crossover. So if you're a fan of fun-to-drive and eco-friendly vehicles, read on, because do we have a story for you.

The Soul EV was recently showcased at the Chicago Auto Show in the windy city after being teased for months. While we didn't have many details before, we now know all about the new design cues, and its electric powertrain.

First, looks. The Soul EV doesn't look that different from the one we currently carry, save for a few subtle differences. The main one is the grille, which maintains the tiger-nose shape while covering the air intakes. The front bumper is also more uniform, with a smaller, lower intake beneath.

As it is with most EVs, the range is a big ticket item for drivers. In that, the new Soul EV won't disappoint. Kia tells us it will get between 80 to 100 miles on a single charge.

And the charge times are pretty impressive, too. While it will take 24 hours to boot up the Soul EV from a zero-bar battery level, you'll be able to reach 80 percent charge in 33 minutes with a 240-outlet and 50-kW charger.

With its dealership debut set for September, we have to say, we're eager to welcome this model to our Waldorf, MD new Kia lineup.
