Do you like using Google Maps but wish the navigation system was a bit more portable? Maybe you'd even like to have access to the service in your new Kia vehicle? Luckily, Kia has partnered with Google to integrate Google Maps and Places into its new, second-generation UVO eServices system!

These new smartphone-based services first appeared in the 2014 Kia Sorento crossover, with various other models following, such as the Kia Sorento , which recently arrived at our new Kia dealership, serving the Alexandria area.

The features can be used inside of the vehicle or at any other location, as drivers have the ability to send locations directly from Google maps (using their smartphones) via the UVO app. While in the vehicle, Google Places can locate points of interest that are close by to the driver's current location. And, as Cars.com states, "At the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, Kia announced that UVO would also incorporate 'geo-fencing,' or the ability to draw zones on a map and receive alerts when your car goes there. This would allow parents, for example, to receive a text-message alert if their teen were to drive somewhere they weren't supposed to."1

Other UVO features include emergency and roadside services connection, vehicle diagnostics and maintenance schedules, voice-activated onboard navigation control, parked car locater, and hands-free music system and phone control. Initially, the new app features will only be available on the iPhone, but Kia plans to add more compatible devices by the end of 2013.

Be sure to stay tuned here for additional updates about the new system. If you're interested in checking it out in person, however, simply stop by Kia of Waldorf, conveniently located at 3188 Crain Highway Waldorf, MD 20603, today and take and equipped model for a test drive!
