KIA of Waldorf supports Children's National Medical Center with life-saving blood donations
Washington, DC- On Thursday, February 16th, KIA of Waldorf will host a blood drive to benefit Children's National. The blood drive will be held from 10 am to 2:30 pm at 3188 Crain Hwy in Waldorf, Maryland.
Children's National relies on lifesaving blood donors to treat premature babies, patients requiring surgery, and those receiving treatment for cancer and sickle cell disease. A single unit of blood can help and even save the lives of three children. Donations are relatively pain-free (just a modest needle stick) and can be made by most people over the age of 17. Children's National offers clear information about how to donate blood on their website.
KIA of Waldorf understands the importance of blood donations and supports Children's National on a yearly basis.
General Manager, Jay Wedick, elaborates: "Providing our facility and staff to support Children's National is a small way to support our community. We are honored to support Children's National Blood Drive for a second year in a row. Children are our future, so we'll continue to support this incredible effort."
Children's National appreciates the efforts of organizations and businesses like KIA and applauds local blood drives like this one.
"It truly takes the whole community to support our work on behalf of children and families across the metro area," said Naomi Luban, MD, Chief of Laboratory Medicine at Children's National. "We care for kids from Waldorf and all across Maryland, so it is gratifying to see the support of organizations like KIA in getting the word out about the importance of donating blood."
