Most often, automotive expansion comes in the form of added production shifts, increased capacity, or the creation of new models within an existing facility. While all such roads to growth are certainly vital, these roads will lead nowhere without substantial infrastructure to bridge the gap between plant and dealership.

What exactly is Kia of Waldorf talking about? Railroads. Easily one of the most efficient means of transporting vehicles, trains need a healthy web of tracks to get the autos you love to the dealerships you rely on. In order to help facilitate growth and lay down new paths for new Kia vehicles to be carried, the automaker's West Point, GA plant has just completed a fantastic railroad project.

Adding several new miles of track as well as two new switches, the Kia railway investment will increase rail shipping capacity from 36 units to 90. Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia Inc. currently churns out models of the popular Kia Optima and Kia Sorento and will be able to expand even more thanks to added tracks.

Georgia U.S. Representative Lynn Westmoreland, says, "This expansion is just an indication that Kia is looking at bigger and better things, really. We are really glad that Kia made an investment here..."1
